THE CHECKLIST
Mission?
CHECK.
Venue?
CHECK.
Banners?
CHECK.
Free giveaways?
CHECK.
A great winning attitude?
CHECK. CHECK.
Okay.
We’re ready.
At this point, if this thing doesn’t work, it won’t be because we forgot the damn banner.
We’ve spent the last few weeks doing the groundwork.
We’ve walked into coffee shops.
We’ve visited fire stations.
We’ve talked to people face-to-face.
We’ve handed out invitations.
We’ve made friends.
And most importantly, we’ve listened.
And everywhere I go, I’m hearing some version of the same thing:
People are ready for something different.
Not another politician screaming at another politician.
Not another cable-news panel where six people yell simultaneously and somehow call it journalism.
Something different.
People talking to people.
So now there’s really only one box left on the checklist.
PEOPLE.
Will they show up?
I don’t know.
That’s the exciting part!
We might have 20 people.
We might have 50.
We might have 100.
Hell, I might spend Sunday afternoon talking to the bartender.
But I’ll tell you something: I’m showing up.
Because that’s what this whole thing has been about from day one.
Citizen versus spectator.
Spectators wait to see what happens.
Citizens make something happen.
And that’s why I’m not worried about how many people walk through that door Sunday.
If one person comes in and leaves thinking,
“You know what? Maybe I should get involved…”
That’s a win.
If that person brings somebody next time?
Now we’ve got a movement.
Because movements don’t arrive fully assembled from Amazon.
There’s no box on the porch that says:
“DEMOCRACY — SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.”
Actually…
That’s exactly what democracy is.
Some assembly required.
And we’re the assembly.
So here we are.
Mission?
CHECK.
Venue?
CHECK.
Banners?
CHECK.
Giveaways?
CHECK.
Attitude?
CHECK. CHECK.
And Sunday?
There’s only one thing left to do.
SHOW UP.
Bring a friend.
Bring a neighbor.
Bring somebody who agrees with you.
Better yet—bring somebody who doesn’t.
Because we’re not trying to build another political tribe.
We’re trying to build a place where Americans can start talking to each other again.
Everything’s ready.
The doors are about to open.
Now let’s see what happens.
