I think I’m finally figuring out what this whole crazy experiment has been about.
I’ve talked to almost 100 strangers. Different ages, different backgrounds, different politics, different lives.
And somewhere along the way, some of these strangers stopped feeling like strangers.
I’ve made connections. I’ve developed relationships. And ironically, during the same period, I’ve lost relationships within my own family.
And maybe that’s taught me something.
America needs a family.
Not another political party screaming at the other political party. Not another fucking argument on Facebook.
We need to sit down. Talk to each other. Listen to each other.
Hell, maybe we need to give each other a hug.
Because after talking to nearly 100 people, I’ve learned something pretty simple:
We don’t hate each other nearly as much as we’ve been told we do.
We’ve got problems. Big ones.
But we’ve also got each other.
So let’s quit acting like enemies, start acting like family, roll up our sleeves, and get to fucking work.
Because this country could be absolutely awesome.
