Wake Up!

You know what’s funny?

Every morning I wake up, and somehow I’m even more motivated than I was the day before.

Most people wake up, check the news, and come away discouraged.

I wake up, check the news, and think, “Well… I guess we’ve got more work to do.”

It seems like every day there’s another story about corruption, another political fight, another scandal, another reminder that somewhere along the way we’ve started accepting dysfunction as normal.

It doesn’t have to be.

I’m not doing this because I think one person can magically fix America.

Nobody can.

I’m doing this because I believe millions of ordinary people can.

That’s why I’m excited about our very first Truth Party rally on August 23rd.

Will there be ten people? Fifty? A hundred? I have no idea.

Honestly, that’s not the point.

The point is that somebody has to go first.

Every movement in history started with people who simply decided to stop complaining and start participating.

That’s what this is about.

Not left versus right.

Not Republicans versus Democrats.

It’s about citizens deciding they want a government that’s more honest, more transparent, and more accountable.

My hope is pretty simple.

I hope we get our act together.

I hope we stop treating politics like a sporting event where the goal is to beat the other team.

I hope we start asking one question:

“What’s actually best for the country?”

Because if we can answer that honestly, I think we’ll find we have a lot more in common than cable news would have us believe.

I’m optimistic.

Maybe that’s because I’m a cancer survivor.

When you’ve been given a second chance at life, you stop focusing on what’s impossible and start asking what’s possible.

I think America deserves that same attitude.

So every morning, I wake up a little more motivated than the day before.

Because I still believe we can build something better.

And I think it starts when ordinary people decide to show up.
