I’ve been thinking a lot about where my sense of responsibility came from.
My parents were born around 1920.
They grew up during the Great Depression, when every dollar mattered and nothing was taken for granted.
Then, just as the country began to recover, America entered World War II. Their generation was asked to sacrifice again. They answered the call.
When the war ended, they didn’t expect someone else to build America.
They built it themselves.
They bought homes.
Started businesses.
Raised families.
Volunteered in their communities.
Joined civic organizations.
Voted.
They understood something we’ve begun to forget:
Freedom comes with responsibility.
That generation taught me that life isn’t easy.
Life demands persistence.
It demands resilience.
It demands helping your neighbors because one day you’ll need them to help you.
It demands showing up.
I think that’s the lesson we need to rediscover.
The challenges we face today are different, but the principle hasn’t changed.
Democracy isn’t something we inherit once and keep forever.
Every generation has to earn it.
Every generation has to protect it.
Every generation has to improve it.
That’s what the Truth Party is really about.
It’s not about asking people to think the same.
It’s about asking people to care enough to participate.
To know what’s happening.
To ask questions.
To help their communities.
To vote.
Not because your candidate will always win.
But because your voice always matters.
The generation that built modern America left us more than roads, schools, and businesses.
They left us an example.
An example that citizenship isn’t passive.
It’s active.
Maybe that’s the mission of our generation.
Not simply to inherit America…
But to leave it stronger than we found it.
Because the Truth Party exists to turn spectators into citizens.
And citizens don’t wait for someone else to solve the problem.
They become part of the solution.
